The Belief

I am not an astrologer. I am a product technologist — and that is exactly the point.

I have always been fascinated by the Vedic sciences, not as mysticism, but as a mathematical system. Vedic astrology is built on precise planetary positions, deterministic calculation rules, and a structured framework for interpreting time. There is nothing vague about it. A Nakshatra is a specific 13°20' arc of the sky. A Dasha period is calculated to the day from the Moon's exact position at birth. These are numbers, not beliefs.

What frustrated me was that most of the world — including most Indians — still associate Jyotish with superstition and hand-waving. That is a failure of presentation, not of the system itself. The underlying framework is ancient, sophisticated, and largely untouched by modern technology.

9Grah exists to change that framing. To show that astrology is more maths than mysticism — and that when you pair it with modern AI, you get something genuinely powerful.

🪐 Why I Built This

I grew up in a family where Jyotish was taken seriously — consulted the way one consults a doctor, with specific questions and genuine attention to the answers. That exposure made me curious about the actual mechanics: how does this system work? What are the rules? Can they be verified?

The more I read, the more I realised how deep and structured classical Vedic astrology actually is. And the more I looked at existing software and apps, the more I felt that none of them were doing it justice. Most reduce Jyotish to daily sun-sign horoscopes. The ones that go deeper are built for practising astrologers, not for curious people who just want to understand their own chart.

I am a product builder. I have spent 12 years building things at the intersection of technology and user experience. This is my attempt to bring that same rigour to a domain I genuinely care about — and to make serious Vedic astrology accessible to anyone, anywhere, for free.

⚙️ How It Works

Every chart on 9Grah is computed to 0.001° accuracy using the Lahiri ayanamsa — the standard for Vedic astrology. The planetary positions are precise. The Dasha periods are exact. This is not approximation.

On top of that, a proprietary AI model built specifically for Vedic astrology interprets your chart using classical Parashara rules — house lordships, Nakshatra padas, Vimshottari Dasha periods, yogas, and inter-planetary aspects. It does not give generic readings. Every response is anchored to the specific positions in your chart.

The goal was to build something a knowledgeable Jyotish enthusiast would respect — methodologically sound, classically grounded, and honest about what astrology is and what it is not.

🎯 The Mission

Make rigorous Vedic astrology accessible to everyone — and make it legible.

A serious Jyotish consultation in India costs ₹2,000–₹10,000. Finding a practitioner you can actually trust is harder still. Most people settle for generic apps that produce generic readings. The Indian diaspora abroad has almost no access at all.

But beyond access, there is a bigger problem: the perception that astrology is irrational. I think that perception is wrong, and I think it is fixable. When you show someone that their "lucky number" is actually derived from a specific planetary position calculated to a fraction of a degree — that changes the conversation.

9Grah's mission is to be the platform that shows people what Vedic astrology actually is: a 5,000-year-old mathematical model of time, personality, and tendency. Not a crystal ball. A framework.
