The Nakshatra the Moon occupies at your birth becomes your Janma Nakshatra and is considered more personally significant than your Sun sign in classical Vedic astrology. Each Nakshatra is divided into 4 Padas (quarters) of 3°20′ each. Your Pada is determined by where within the Nakshatra the Moon was positioned at birth.
